Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2012 Vintage) says
A cooler than average vintage has given birth to one of the longest-lived of this famous bargain riesling, and undoubtedly one of the best. I adore the refinement of this rendition and a year after vintage it’s still beautifully lively and fresh, with a lime blossom bouquet and an entire fruit salad of stone fruits, citrus, pear and apple, accented with the pepper and kaffir lime spice of a cool season. It’s finished with taut acid structure and fine minerality.

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
An exotic bouquet of lime juice, orange zest, coriander and a touch of musk; the palate is lively, with taut acidity prominent, making way for a complex bitter amaro conclusion that is full of blanched almonds.

Firm, crisp, crunchy/minerally; doesn't have quite enough citrussy fruit to convince, but will develop well.

Jeremy Oliver (2009 Vintage) says
A pretty, elegant and citrusy riesling likely to become quite toasty with age. Scented with fresh floral and light mineral aromas of lime juice, stonefruit and tropical fruits of pleasing intensity, it presents a slightly candied, lemony and moderately chalky and phenolic palate whose tangy, flavours of citrus and preserved fruits finish slightly sweet, with a lingering note of lemon sherbet and apple.

Rob Geddes MW (2008 Vintage) says
One of our distinctive regional riesling styles. Fresh citrus and apples in a riper style, with more obvious steely acidity than South Australia.
Australian Wine Vintages 2010
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Tightly focused fruit with nectarine and lime coming to the fore; lean, crisp and quite fine on the finish, with an underlying generosity that gives the wine real presence on the finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2010
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
Shapely, sculpted and aromatic riesling with zesty crispness and raciness. Its fresh lime juice, pear and apple perfume reveal lightly spicy and musky lemongrass undertones. Long and elegant, tight and lean, it has powdery phenolics and a pleasing juiciness about its lime/lemon fruit.
Australian Wine Annual 2006 2005
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; clean, moderately aromatic, with lime, apple and some mineral threaded through the aromas; the palate is at once delicate yet quite intense, with a mix of lime and more minerally notes providing good structure.
