Mornington Estate Pinot Gris

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The Mornington Estate range are produced by Dromana Estate who have crafted a second label to showcase the varietals that suit the regions. A portion of this wine is made with fruit from the cooler King Valley in order to aid aromatics. Varietal notes of Nashi pear and honeysuckle create the classic fuller Gris style with a little sweetness and some clean acidity. This is a wine that is just so drinkable and perfect for a lazy lunch of antipasto or some plain cooked fish.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Pale straw

Nose: Subtle floral, slight honeysuckle with lifted aromatics.

Palate: A hint of Nashi pear combines with the honey suckle on the nose and the wine's vibrant acidy with a slight sweetness create a classic pinot gris style.

Serving Suggestion: Smoked chicken salad, seared scallops with green curry jelly and a hint of chilli.

Mornington Estate Pinot Gris

Expert Reviews

Mike Bennie (2011 Vintage) says
Eking out some pear drop sweetness and brisk, briny crispness from the variety's response to region and 201 season, but the lilt of glossy texture says this is a Pinot Gris built with some pedigree. Delicate expression, and refreshing.
