Mornington Estate Shiraz Viognier

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The Shiraz Viognier fashion has died down a little but there are still some truly great examples of this dynamic partnership that pairs the richness of the Shiraz grape with the lifted aromatics of Viognier. The aromas are as expected, white pepper, black fruit, spice and these are mirrored on the palate with clove and chocolate adding complexity. It’s nicely rounded and clean making it a good candidate for dishes like lamb shanks or mild curry dishes.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Bright purple/red

Nose: Fragrant cloves, pepper and spice, blackberry and cranberry with lifted floral notes and charry oak

Palate: Dark fruits (blackberry, plums) jump from the glass backed by savoury characters and firm tannins. Long clean finish.

Serving Suggestion: Enjoy with rich beef dishes such as beef stroganoff or serve with lamb shanks.
