Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
The 1994 vintage is one of the most delicious Pinots ever produced in Hawke's Bay. The '95 lacks the beguiling fragrance, intense varietal character and charm of the riper '94, but offers plenty of meaty, spicy flavour, braced by firm tannins, and some savoury complexity. The 1996 vintage is an attractive although not concentrated wine, matured for nine months in French oak barriques (20 per cent new). It's a fragrant, delicately flavoured wine, crisp, strawberryish and moderately complex.
