Moss Brothers Moses Rock Cabernet Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Biblical associations aside this is a slice of Shiraz and Cabernet heaven from WA. This is the pinnacle of the Moss Brothers range and similar to Moses it will part the waters at your next dinner party and perform miracles. A small portion of Merlot and Cabernet Franc was blended to add up front fruit and complexity to the wine and it has worked a treat. Juicy, ripe black fruits, cherries and violets on the nose before a spicy, generous palate with well-structured tannins and soft, persistent finish.

Winemaker's Notes

The Moses Rock range of wines have been crafted from carefully selected fruit and are made to reflect the terroir of the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River.

A sunny and warm vintage in 2011 produced red wines deep in colour and strong varietal characters with rich texture and silky tannins. This great example of the quintessential Aussie blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz is full flavoured and finishes soft and with richness

Nose: Aromas of cassis, spice, and sweet cherry fruit.

Palate: Flavours of blackcurrant bramble fruits, and savoury oak

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; there is a profusion of aromas and flavours on the bouquet and palate alike: red cherry, mint, spice and blackberry, fruity more than savoury.

Solid sweet/woody aromas and a stock-standard aged cabernet palate of cigar box, fruit and spices.

Faintly reductive; still very tight and youthful; firm, fresh red and black berry fruits.
