Something different in a $20.00 chardonnay and a bold step to make wine with this much delicacy at the price.

Makes a major statement from the oak and bottle development, and not from the alcohol; ageing slowly but surely; striking new label design.

Do you think it confuses people to put 'Pyrenees' on the label? Some people are worried the punters will think wines like this come from near the Spanish/French border, rather than their real home in central Victoria—which I think posits a marginally better grasp of geography than most of us actually have. I also think our local drinkers will jump all over this lovely nutty like-like Victorian chardy, wherever the hell they think it comes from.

Light straw-green; an up-and-down bouquet with citrus, mineral, mlf influences and slightly pencilly oak, then a palate which is initially somewhat mute, but has good balance; the fruit finally comes through on the finish.

James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; a clean, smooth bouquet of light to medium intensity with melon, cashew and subtle oak aromas intermingling. The palate is spotlessly clean, with good length and intensity, well balanced and fresh; creamy melon flavours hold the wine in good stead.
