James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Slightly diffuse colour, not entirely consistent with the 5% viognier the wine contains; likewise, both the bouquet and (special) palate are powerful, with strong savoury/earthy overtones to the black fruit/berry core.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
The colour is good, although not as brilliant as the 5% viognier might suggest; the fragrant, spicy bouquet does show its viognier lift, as does the elegant, wild yeast-fermented, medium-bodied palate.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; rich, concentrated blackberry, dark plum and licorice, with a subtle background of French oak; not over-extracted, nor is it overripe; stained Diam a worry.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Light- to medium-bodied, well away from the usual full-blooded alcohol style; has elegant red fruits, but the mid-palate falters before dusty tannins on the finish.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Youthful purple-red; medium-bodied; fresh maraschino cherry and plum fruit, with a subliminal lift of viognier; very fine tannins, and perfectly integrated oak.
