Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

2012 was a brilliant year in Victoria, and many of the reds out of the Grampians and Great Western regions are epic! This one from Mount Langhi is a more medium-bodied number that shows some dense, dark fruits on the nose intermingled with hints of crushed leaves and cigar box cedar. The palate is quite juicy and fruit-driven, with some fine grippy tannins providing backbone, bright acidity, and a hit of clove-like spice on the long, lingering finish. It will take another couple of years in the cellar, or give it a quick decant tonight with your favourite red meat dish.

Winemaker's Notes

Often the last vineyard to be picked at Mount Langi, our Cabernet Sauvignon has a long ripening period to produce the complex tannin and fruit balance. Excellent varietal typicity, with Cabernet blackcurrant flavours with plum and cherry fruits with classic Langi spice on the back palate. Drinking well now this wine has benefited from careful cellaring prior to release. Strong tannins at bottling have softened and developed to give great structure and depth.

Appearance: Dark plum with red hues.

Nose: Blackcurrant, dark plum, tobacco, leaf and earthy tones.

Palate: Black cherry and classic cassis fruit. Fine, grippy tannins supporting dark fruit and earthy characters giving length and intensity. This is supported by subtle oak and fine acidity with a hint of Langi spice on the finish.
