Mount Mary Quintet Magnum

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The Mount Mary Quintet is renown for being one of Australia's best examples of what they call a Bordeaux Blend. It's a sublime wine that still hasn't hit its straps yet, but when it does look out! Aromas of red berries, cassis, dried herbs and flaked tobacco rise from the glass, whilst the palate is medium-bodied and packing plenty, with cassis and earthy flavours, surprisingly smooth, tight tannins, poised acidity, and a tightly-coiled finish. This will go for a couple of decades, so if you intend to drink it now give it a good decant several hours before serving.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep crimson purple colour with crimson mauve hue. The nose is very perfumed and displays classic Bordeaux refinement with lifted aromas of violets, blackcurrant, cedar and spice, followed by a hint of cigar box. Medium weight with flavours of violets, cedar, blackcurrant, mulberry and spice with cigar box end notes. Displaying great elegance and refinement with excellent depth. Very fine grained tannins, perfect balance, with very long aftertaste of spice, blackcurrant and cedar with some cigar box notes to finish.
