Mount Trio Porongurup Riesling

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Now, this is the variety the Porongurup sub-region is really gaining kudos for. This one is a frisky, dry style of rizza that shows smells and flavours of lemons, limes and subtle florals. The palate is light, crisp and crystal clear, with juicy citrusy flavours, racy acidity, and a crunchy finish that keeps on truckin'. Great with sashimi kingfish.

Winemaker's Notes

This is a variety particularly well suited to the Great Southern and especially the Porongurups, with its cooler ripening conditions and colder night temperatures. Typically, the Riesling wines made from this region are crisp and dry and can age well.

Nose: Delicately perfumed with lime fruit characters, blossom and hints of honeysuckle.

Palate: This is typical of the Rieslings from the Great Southern; it has beautifully fine and delicate citrus characters with great length of flavour. With lovely zesty lemon characters to start with, it finishes with gorgeous lime fruit flavours; there is a gentle tanginess to this wine and this delicate acidity gives its excellent persistence of flavour. This is a beautiful crisp dry wine that would be very well matched with any fresh seafood, especially some King George Whiting!

Cellaring: Riesling like this is fantastic at any age. Enjoy as an aperitif while fresh and young or cellar for some bottle age complexity. This wine should continue to drink well for 6 + years.
