A wealth of swirling spice here, plenty of toasty oak leading into ripe, bright cherry and strawberry fruits, some plum and earthy, savoury bracken. The palate has ripe tannins, tea cake flavour, plum and spice, some orange rind, and a chalky fan through the finish.

Showing some development, this North Canterbury red is full-coloured, with slightly herbal flavours showing good depth and some savoury complexity.
Winestate 2009
Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
The 2007 vintage was hand-picked from young vines in the Cheviot Hills, north of Waipara, and matured for 11 months in French oak barriques (30 per cent new). It's a full-coloured red with plum, spice and slight herbal flavours, showing good depth, and some savoury complexity.
