Delicious in its youth, the partly barrel-fermented 2006 vintage was made mostly from Central Otago Pinot Noir (85 per cent), supplemented by Pinot Noir and Pinotage estate-grown at Waipara. The colour is an enticing salmon pink; the palate is full-bodied (13.5 per cent alcohol), lively and dryish (10 grams/litre of residual sugar), with fresh, delicate, strawberry and spice flavours and even a touch of complexity.
