Murdoch Hill Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This medium to fuller-bodied style of cab sav out of the Adelaide Hills represents great value for money for the contents of the bottle. Smells of blackcurrant, raspberries and dried herbs lift from the glass, whilst the palate is nicely fruited with sweet red berry flavours, a balanced line of gentle tannins, and that sprinkle of herbs coming through on the decent finish. Enjoy over the next three to five years.

Winemaker's Notes

The Cabernet Sauvignon shows the warmer dry conditions experienced during the ripening period, this has given plenty of plush fruit weight that carries through the palate. Although a warmer vintage this wines still displays typical Cabernet characters of mulberry and bright red fruits with a soft tannin profile.
Alcohol: 14.0%

Weather conditions in South Australia this vintage provided a direct contrast to that seen in previous years, with a late winter break and very dry spring and summer. However naturally the yields were high in 2013 and required extensive bunch thinning to increase flavour concentration. These reduced yields along with the warmer dry conditions resulted in an earlier development of flavour and harvest date. Overall the concentration of fruit is excellent, this is a result of hard work in the vineyard.
