Cracka Review

Sourced from some of the best vines in the Barossa and tended to with the artisan touch. This cracking Grenache Shiraz Mataro blend is awesome value at it's RRP of $30 however, at this price, it's a little absurd!

Good Food described it as "A superbly perfumed GSM with deep purple-red colour and spice, plum and cherry-brandy aromas. Sweet-fruit palate with soft tannins and some alcohol warmth.
Delicious".

Winemaker's Notes

The 2013 vintage followed a dry winter which resulted in a lower yields across the Barossa. We saw small bunches and small berries which resulted in wines that were naturally more structured, having great colour and flavour.

We source the grapes for this particular blend from many locations in the Barossa, each individual parcel of fruit adding its own particular characters to the finished wine where the result is larger than the sum of its parts.

Grenache for its perfume and spice, Shiraz for power and bass-notes and Mataro for its savoury structure and texture, together they seem to seamlessly mesh together as a complete blend. Perfect with light meat dishes or indeed by itself.

Mystery Barossa Valley GSM Blend

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
Sweet fruit flavour aplenty, and more. This is a beautifully presented GSM blend. It's all licorice and dark earth, black cherry and spice, the combination of out-and-out fruit sweetness and more earthen, savoury aspects set to the most enjoyable effect. Fine curls of tannin help those licoricey notes linger; floral notes add to the show of the finish.

Grenache 54%, Shiraz 26% and Mataro 20%. Unfamiliar with this producer, though of course, I’ve been aware of them. Working with blends in the Barossa, you often get a better and more interesting set of colours on your palette, and here we have a lovely mix of red, purple, black and blue. Raspberry and blackberry, coal, rosemary, cloves and cinnamon. Medium bodied, spicy and floral with juicy red and black fruit, tempered with some savoury stuff and new leather. Fresh and bright, with fine grained tannin giving a pleasant amount of grip and shape, while maintaining its silky touch, then a succulent and spicy finish of excellent length. Such a good drink.

A superbly perfumed GSM with deep purple-red colour and spice, plum and cherry-brandy aromas. Sweet-fruit palate with soft tannins and some alcohol warmth. Delicious. It’s 54/26/20 per cent grenache, shiraz and mataro.
