Mystery Iconic Hunter Valley Shiraz Cabernet

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

From one of the best vintages in the Hunter of the last decade, this is made by one of the most famous wineries in the Hunter (you’ll know them instantly). Classically rich and full bodied, this has already scored 94 points from a renowned Australian wine reviewer, even though it has not even been released to the public yet. In fact, you can’t buy this anywhere else except direct from the cellar door. We’ve sold the last few vintages of this genuine Hunter champion and I think this is the most generous, full bodied and complete of the lot. It’s just a fantastic Hunter red that will (almost) live forever.

Winemaker's Notes

A blend of Shiraz and Cabernet from the Hunter Valley. Dark fruits and chocolate characters, along with the extra element of spice from the higher percentage of new oak. A modern style of Australian red that also respects the tradition of regional and varietal blending to make a more rounded wine. The palate is complex and flavoursome, with nice firm tannin on the finish.

Mystery Iconic Hunter Valley Shiraz Cabernet

Expert Reviews

The Wine Front (2013 Vintage) says
3-4% Cabernet from cuttings off Lakes Folly vines...could be described as the ‘Big Boy’ of the ... Hunter reds. Blueberries, blackberries, clove and aniseed spice, vanilla. Medium to full bodied, ripe and sweetly oaked (in comparison), grainy firm tannin, lots of mouth perfume and a cool finish. Very good. A satisfying wine.
