Excellent varietal with fabulous length and concentration of oak, fruit and savoury tannins. Nice spiciness.

In theory, tempranillo is best suited to cool climates as it is an early ripening variety, tannins an issue in warm climates. Here the wine has excellent texture and structure, with very appealing spice, cherry and plum fruits, the tannins fine and soft.

Lifted red/blue fruit nose; good spiciness. Very generous, mouthfilling oak palate with loads of fruit to match. 3-5

A very consistent house/maker imprint and philosophy; however, in my view, too ripe for varietal expression.

This is the McLaren Vale project of the Barossa-based Kaesler crew. They've done a great job cutting the wood in here, some sweet spices, liquorice and rich dark cherry fruits. The fine tannins have also been massaged neatly into shape, fragrant lift through the finish, integrated and almost shiraz-like.

The Spanish star of Tempranillo can be a little precious but here it shows much of the character that made the grape famous. Dusty cherry scented fruit showing some floral and earthy tones sit on a juicy palate finishing ripe with fine lingering tannins.
