Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
This regional blend is typically good value. The 2009 vintage was hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (25 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Ruby-hued, it has a floral, slightly herbal bouquet, leading into a mouthfilling and supple wine, intensely varietal, with cherry, plum, herb and nut flavours showing good complexity.

This regional blend offers great value. The 2007 vintage, grown at Upper Moutere and Brightwater, on the Waimea Plains, was hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured for 11 months in French oak barriques (26 per cent new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Floral and finely textured, it is mouthfilling, savoury and supple, with rich, ripe cherry and spice flavours, showing excellent complexity, and lovely harmony.
