An 80/20 chardonnay blend with viognier has a rich, spiced-apricot viognier-led bouquet, with a little nuttiness from barrel fermentation. It's intense and rich in the mouth with good texture and clean acidity enlivening the palate.

While each of the debut releases from biodynamically certified Ngeringa are well worth a look, it was this white blend that caught my attention. An equal-parts split of chardonnay and viognier, it has a ripe and intense nose of apricot and desiccated coconut together with smells of orange blossom, spice, and musk. Meanwhile, in your mouth it comes across broad and full with the viognier component working overtime and chardonnay's lively acidity kicking in at just the right moment. Oak is nicely used and the finish is balanced and dry.
