Noon Eclipse Grenache Shiraz

Expert Reviews

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
Drew Noon has been familiar with biodynamics for years but has started applying its principles to his home vineyard only in recent years. The sold-out-in-a-flash Eclipse is from his home vineyard. There is always something classic about Noon Eclipse despite its high alcohol. This release is strong and spicy and ripped with cranberried, plummy fruit flavour, its smoothness and impact second to none. Licoricey, tarry, porty overtones and lots of sweet, warm length. Complex.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Medium to full red-purple; the bouquet is attractive, with distinctively ripe and juicy grenache leading the attack. The palate is brimming with rich, juicy ripe fruit dusted with spice. One of those 'two bottles in one' wines with a lethal number of standard drinks.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Strong purple-red; the bouquet has attractive blackberry/earthy fruit and minimal oak evident. The palate has abundant but pleasantly chewy chocolate and red fruit flavours; the tannins are not aggressive and the wine has excellent length. Amazingly, the alcohol does not result in a hot finish.
