Cracka Review

You don’t have to pay hundreds of dollars for a decent Rosé Champagne. Gosset is one of the best value Champagnes around, so it's well worth whacking some in the fridge for that special occasion. An avalanche of red berry and cherry fruits burst onto the scene at first sniff, along with citrus and rose florals. The palate is vibrant, curvaceous and full-bodied with more red berries, a fine mousse and racy, citrus acidity leading to a dry finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Delicate colour of salmon-pink rose petals, decorated with ruby/cherry highlights.

Nose: An explosion of strawberry flavours. Rich expressive notes of fresh strawberries underlined with hints of concentrated strawberry jam. A bowl of ripe strawberries covered with a spoonful of stewed strawberries with a lovely freshness.

Palate: The palate is well structured with a perfect balance of freshness and roundness of fruit. It is dominated by voluptuous flavours of red fruit such as wild strawberries delivering a sweet, enveloping sensation. A beautifully accessible champagne when young, but on cellaring well it will keep or even intensify its beauty.

Food: With the last “vibrant” strawberries picked from the garden! Plump, juicy and sweet. Fruits suit it well due to their soft side, reflecting its youth. Foie gras for boldness and the quest for richness and sweetness around the base built on the wine’s strength. A partnership dominated by strength and tenderness.

Nick Stock says
Gosset's rose is in striking form - as are all their Champagnes - with bright, dried red flowers, red-cherry fruits, fine, musky notes and pink-grapefruit citrus - very, very fresh. The palate's quite assertive, flavour-filled and ripe: there's peach and papaya, and pink grapefruit here too. Very fresh, elemental and tangy.
