cracka review

If you are going to go the whole hog and buy proper bubbly then Methode Traditionelle bottle ferment is the only way to go as it gives the resulting wines texture, elegance, grace and loads of complex toasty brioche/croissant flavours. It is almost like breakfast with a kick! And this is a monumentally brilliant release that is Champagne-like in every way but name. Miraculous, breath taking, stupendous – I think you get the drift. But don’t take my word for it. Check out what Michael Cooper, New Zealand’s top wine critic, has to say about it.

expert reviews

Tyson Stelzer says
It is quite a feat to craft a sparkling wine that captures richness within a frame of delicacy. Quartz Reef has met the brief impeccably, celebrating the power of Central Otago pinot noir (almost two-thirds of the blend) in its rich stone fruit, mixed spice and baked apple glory, then toning it with the pink grapefruit and preserved lemon notes of chardonnay. It pulls accurately into a well-balanced finish of mineral presence and taut acidity, carrying with impressive line and persistence, finishing with a refreshingly low dosage of 8g/L of sweetness.

Quartz Reef Wine Accolades and Reviews:
This increasingly Champagne-like, non-vintage bubbly… Pale, very lively and racy, with yeasty, nutty flavours, intense, tight-knit and lasting, it is beautifully poised, rich and harmonious. The best NV yet from Quartz Reef. 5 Stars - Michael Cooper's Buyer’s Guide to New Zealand Wines 2011
