Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Guerin Vineyard Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Here is another in the conga line of 'Local Vineyard Series' wines that Oakridge is producing. It's different to the Barkala vineyard in that it is much more peachy, appley and nutty in it's expression on the nose. The palate is brisk, rounded and slightly spicy, with a succulent citrus centre, a talcy mouthfeel, and a long lemon sorbet finish. A lovely wine that provides plenty of interest.

Winemaker's Notes

A little more flesh from the warmer 2012 vintage after the exceptionally cool 2011s. Interestingly this site seems to find the middle ground between the Barkala Ridge and Denton bottlings. Showing white Peach, orchard blossom, citrus and raw almonds. Quite structured and serious with good density on the mid palette. Perfectly integrated oak.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Sourced from the Ray Guerin Vineyard (Ray is long-term viticulturist for the largest vineyard in the Upper Yarra, now owned by Accolade). Strongly structured and layered, with white peach and nectarine joined by cashew.

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
The red volcanic soils have delivered an intense and decidedly chalky wine: really fragrant, smelling of wet chalk and lemon pith, oyster shell too, super-fine and pure. The palate s fine, precise and zippy, delivering fresh almondine flavours amid white peach and melon fruit; edgy, refined and utterly refreshing.
