Palliser Estate Martinborough Methode Champenoise

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2000 Vintage) says
This is Martinborough's finest sparkling (although few have been produced). The 1998 vintage has an attractive lightness, vivacity and complexity, with citrusy, yeasty, lingering flavours. The 2000 is a blend of Pinot Noir (58 per cent) and Chardonnay (42 per cent). When tasted in mid to late 2004, it was fresh and lively, but lacked the richness and complexity of past vintages.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
This is easily Martin borough's finest sparkling (although few have been produced). The 1998 vintage is a 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Pale, with a fine 'bead', fragrant, fresh, very yeasty bouquet and dry finish, it has an attractive lightness and vivacity, with good complexity and lingering, citrusy, yeasty flavours.

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
The 1996 vintage is the Martinborough region's finest sparkling to date. A 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it is richly scented, with a very refined and delicate palate, tight-knit and distinctly yeasty, with searching, citrusy, nutty flavours, firm acid spine and a sustained finish.
