Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
A 56/19/11/10/4% blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, malbec and shiraz showing a little development; the bouquet offers blackcurrant and choc-mint aromas; the full-bodied palate reveals a bright core of sweet fruit, and then tannins come through the finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2014 Edition 2013
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
A complex blend of 43% merlot, 31% cabernet sauvignon, 9% cabernet franc, 9% malbec and 3% shiraz, part estate-, part contract-grown. The scented, perfumed bouquet has red fruits, French oak and distinct leatherwood aromas, with the silky palate driven by a complex array of sweet red fruits, the tannins fine and balanced.

WINESTATE (2007 Vintage) says
Fresh lightweight with floral aromas and sweet spicy/mint blackberry flavours balanced by firm, drying tannins.

Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
The eclectic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Cabernet Franc/Malbec/Shiraz works well in this vintage, with a smooth and supple array of red and black fruits, a touch of chocolate and ripe, although gentle, tannins. Ready now, but will hold.
Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Good hue; does show its alcohol, but there is a large volume of predominantly blackcurrant fruit, with the added complexity of an amazing blend of6 clones of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)/Merlot (14%)/Cabernet Franc (12%)/Malbec (8%)/Shiraz (6%).
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Nick Stock (2004 Vintage) says
This pitches cool-climate style, and some savoury bottle-derived maturity adds interest. Not exactly Rubenesque: rhubarb and dried cassis, liqueured fruits, leaves and mint. Very supple palate, more mint and berries here, subtle spices and a dense, resolute finish. Like a ripe luncheon claret!
Good Australian Wine Guide 2009 2008
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
A lively, sweet but understandably complex array of fruit flavours; remarkably, doesn't show the dead fruit characters of many '03s; good length, balance and structure. Cabernet Sauvignon (59%, 6 clones)/Shiraz (12%)/Merlot (12%)/Cabernet Franc (10%)/Malbec (7%).
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Sweet, juicy blackberry, plum, blackcurrant and cassis fruit do all the talking; oak and tannins incidental music.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Highly aromatic and spicy; delicious medium-bodied wine, entirely fruit-driven by its cocktail of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz.
