Patrick Piuze Terroir de Courgis

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

No, this isn't named after corgis (favoured dogs of the Queen of England). It is very tasty Chablis though, made by one of the upcoming superstars of Chablis, Patrick Piuze. Drawn from two plots around the village of Courgis, this shows much of the character of more celebrated Chablis terroirs, yet at a rather more manageable price.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Pale gold with light green reflexion.

Nose: Apricot and citrus aromas.

Palate: Fruit driven wine, rich mouth and a mineral finish.

Food: Oysters and white flesh fish.

Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2010 Vintage) says
Last week Domaine Wine Shippers lined up the big guns of Domaine Raveneau and Domaine Laroche with the new guy, Patrick Piuze, from precocious Petit Chablis to profound Grand Cru Les Clos. After an hour of intensive interrogation, Raveneau claimed three of my top five wines and Piuze snared two. Terroir de Courgis is a Chablis subregional blend, and one of the best value introductions to the charms of this region at the moment. Generous fruit presence of white peach and glace fig is honed with grapefruit juice and lemon zest, built around Chablis’ defining structure of ultra-fine, chalky minerality.
