Patritti Wines Old Gate McLaren Vale Shire Shiraz

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Dense, inky purple-crimson; it has a highly expressive, but densely packed, full-bodied palate, black fruits at its heart, licorice, dark chocolate and oak providing a garland for the fruit. Ridiculously good value for a wine that demands 10 years, and will live for (at least) another 20 years thereafter.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Good crimson-purple; like the '10 Single Vineyard Shirazs, comes from Patritti's Blewitt Springs vineyard, hand-picked, and matured in 100% new French and American oak puncheons for two years, black fruits, chocolate and fruitcake doing battle with the oak. It is a mystery how this wine could possibly sell for $18 or less.
Australian Wine Companion 2013 2012
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Deep colour; dark fruit, dark © chocolate and mocha/vanillan oak on the bouquet lead into a full-bodied, well-balanced regional palate with balanced fruit tannins and oak; single-estate vineyard planted in the late 1960s; picked 7 Mar and matured in new French oak puncheons for 18 months. Longevity questioned by cork.
