Cracka Review

Tradition, finesse and elegance are just some of the things you’ll encounter in a Paul Conti wine the first time you try one. Based just 30 minutes from Perth this Sicilian born family have been making wine since the late 40’s. We don’t see an awful lot of Chenin Blanc at Cracka but this deserves top billing as it’s very well made. Typically tropical with citrus aromas it offers a round palate, clean acids and a long finish. Drink chilled with a wide array of foods including, antipasto dishes as well as chicken or seafood.

Winemaker's Notes

Nose: The bouquet exhibits lifted tropical fruit flavours with hints of pear and peachy aromatics.

Palate: The generous round palate is enhanced by fresh natural acidity and a long clean finish.

Food: A perfect accompaniment to a warm summer afternoon, this wine is ideally suited to Mediterranean dishes, a traditional antipasto plate or grilled seafood/chicken.

Ray Jordan (2012 Vintage) says
Big fruit bomb of flavour. Lots of tropical fruit with a decent lick of passionfruit. The acid is crisp and keen and the finish sustained. Ideal current quaffing when you’re looking for a wine with real fruit intensity.

Real fruit bomb of a chenin Blanc just brimming with ripe crisp tropical aromas and flavours. Pulsates with life on the vibrant juicy palate with a crisp sustaining acid keeping in long in the mouth.

A high-toned, floral, honeysuckle bouquet and a fresh, flavoursome palate; has more intensity and character than the vast majority.

Terrifically vibrant and fruity chenin blanc from this excellent vineyard. The full0-on tropical smells are superb and provide a wonderful opening to the wine. The flavour is all fruity and delicious with a touch of lime juice to complement the finish. Lovely current drinking wine.

Strong varietal fruit salad in a tropical mode; will become even richer in the years ahead.

Wow, what a terrific zippy tropical fruit bomb we have here. A terrific vintage for this variety has thrown up this thoroughly deliciously appealing crunchy mouthful of flavour. The crisp acid sustains things perfectly.

Nice clean fruit with hints of fresh green apple and likely acidity; fine and dry on the flavoursome finish

True to form example of the wonderful tropical fruits that WA chenin blanc is renowned for. This one hadn't long been bottled but it was already showing superb fruit with a bright cherry palate and a fine lingering palate sustaining acidity. Very ice easy drinking

Light green-yellow; the bouquet is aromatic, with ripe peach/tropical aromas, with an exotic overtone vaguely reminiscent of durian. The same exotic mix of tropical fruits, including guava and durian, comes through on the palate, which has good length and acidity.
