Rob Geddes MW (2010 Vintage) says
Slate mineral subtle lime and floral to tropical and apricot riesling aroma, textural palate with good weight and concentration with pineapple, tropical fruits with a soft finish. Very pleasurable wine almost sensuous for a dry style riesling which is quite a big call. The Bel Canto takes the whole experience to Scarlatti or Verdiesque levels.

Peg Bay is one of New Zealand’s greatest rieslings, and less botrytis makes 2009 a particularly alluring and poised expression. Gorgeous complexity of apricot, peach, baked apple, clove, even a hint of kerosene and lingering exotic spice, over a crunchy backbone of lime and lemon zest. It’s a full and rich style of medium sweetness and perfectly tuned balance.

An individual complex style that balances obvious acidity, off dry level of sweetness, a touch of botrytis and intense riesling flavours in harmony; has more talc aromas minerals and zing than the Tasmanian style ? is a moreish style.

Easily the number-one riesling maker in the Waipara region of New Zealand's South Island, Pegasus Bay captures more complexity and character than 10 others put together, and they get it all into superb shape, and they do so every time. Exotic ripe yellow fruits and sweet tropical notes, some candied perfume and cumquat citrus. The palate has more of the cumquat citrus flavour and incredible concentration; gentle sweetness adds another dimension and the finish leaves long trails of fruit flavour - fades gently.

The 2008 vintage has delivered a particularly full style for Peg Bay Riesling, with great concentration and strong botrytis influence. It's accented by citrus zest flavours, balanced by well-judged sweetness, fine minerality and excellent line and length.

Outstanding purity and mandarin citrus; piercing, clear and intense. Fine zesty palate, very powerful, very crisp and very aromatic - long and fine, superb. Pegasus Bay's signature style is in the off-dry zone at 31 grams of sugar, yet beautifully balanced. Sourced from the gifted river gravel soils of the Waipara region, it is one heck of an endorsement for the region and New Zealand riesling in general.

Light to medium green-yellow; voluminous, fragrant flowery aromas lead into a full-flavoured palate. Here the problem is that even by the standards of New Zealand, the sweetness seems well over the top for the (apparent) acidity, but there is no shortage of character.

Light to medium yellow-green; the complex bouquet offers a mix of lime, tropical and more spicy notes, the palate stacked with flavour running through lime to cumquat marmalade. Striking but successful in a mildly off-dry style.
