Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
This is from an unusual grape-growing area at the mouth of the Murray River in . The name is, of course, a reference to the famous Storm Boy character. If we were judging this at a wine show we wouldn't give it a medal, but it would come close. (Medals at wine shows are a standard rather than a standing - dozens of wines can earn a gold medal in the same 'race' at the same show.) It tastes of blackcurrant, violets and ink and has a good mellow sense of easy drinkability. Its quality sneaks up on you.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
A noticeable tang of the sea; slightly briny with red fruit in support; very firm and savoury.

Peter Forrestal (2007 Vintage) says
While I am not a fan of the convoluted name, the wines from Hindmarsh Island deserve some attention. This is neatly balanced, has deep, dense blackcurrant and dark plum flavours that are rich and concentrated. It's a powerful, approachable red at a fair price
Quaff 2010 2009
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
The clean bouquet offers cassis, chocolate and French oak aromas in abundance. A strongly structured palate brings together all the elements of the bouquet in impressive fashion, with fine and ripe tannins.
