Penfolds Bin 60A Coonawarra Cabernet Kalimna Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, this 2004 Bin 60A sees a revival of a wine that appeared in 1962, and was named as one of the wines to try before you die. This 2004 version is sourced from various Penfolds vineyards in various S.A regions, and shows ripe dark berries and tobacco leaf on the nose, with hints of soft spices, pepper and fleshy plums. The palate is powerful, but retains some elegance, with tight, sweet fruit in the middle, fine but firm tannins, and a long finish that just won't quit. It's waiting to unfurl over the next few decades.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep in colour, this youthful elemental wine shows a miraculous overlapping of aromas and flavours. The regional characters of both Coonawarra and the Barossa Valley are finely poised. The highly perfumed chamomile/violet/mocha aromas, immense concentration, savoury flavours and classically structured palate are in superb balance. This beautifully defined cross-regional/varietal with its meaty nuances and fine-grained tannins will continue to evolve in the cellar for decades.

Please note: **Like all our wines over 5 years of age, this bottle is sold as is. No returns or refunds accepted.**
