Likely to flesh out and fine genuine balance with time in the bottle, this oaky young merlot has a faintly meaty, floral bouquet of ripe, dark cherries and plums augmented by fresh cedary oak and backed by a hint of mint and menthol. It's long, sweetly fruited and supple, with a bright berry/cherry fruit and savoury oak underpinned by fine, supple tannins.

Ripe fruit aromas medium body with depth of ripe flavours which are balanced by the weight of silky tannins plenty of bang for your buck.

Kym Tolley's workhorse merlot has a light fruit nose and bright, up-beat red fruits, slightly confected with brightness and simple appeal. There's a little herbal edge amid light tannins that run throughout the palate, making a slightly more serious impression than the nose suggests.

A smooth, juicy early-drinking merlot with flavours of cranberries, raspberries and redcurrants backed by nuances of cherry kernels and restrained cedary oak. Initially quite juicy, with a plush, sumptuous presence of fruit, it becomes more elegant and restrained down the palate, finishing with some jammy cranberry and redcurrant flavours backed by smoky, charcuterie-like nuances.

Good concentration, with nice depth of fruit to the bouquet and flavor to match, but somewhat one-dimensional

Kym Tolley, take a bow! A masterfully delivered Coonawarra merlot for under 20 bucks, showing attractive brambly blue fruits, some earthy aromas, a hint of mint, and barrel-derived spice; it looks complex and complete. Very plush and bending in the direction of a charming St Emilion with fine savoury tannins. Superb!

Spicy, leafy with a hint of mint on the bouquet; medium-bodied, with a firm, savoury structure to black olive, spice and leaf; good length courtesy of savoury tannins.
