James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Bright colour; vibrantly fresh mix of red and black fruits; fine, soft tannins; good oak.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
Earthy, slightly meaty aromas of dark plums, cherries and lightly toasty cedar/vanilla oak precede a fine, smooth and elegant palate framed by moderately firm and pliant tannins. It's meaty and savoury, with a lingering core of sour-edged dark plum and cherry flavour. The oak is certainly assertive, but reasonably integrated and balanced.
Australian Wine Annual 2007 2006
James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; a complex and aromatic savoury mix of spice, leaf and red berry is followed by a palate with good balance and structure, the flavours in the olive/savoury end of the spectrum, but neither green nor herbal; fine tannins and good length. A prime example of the variety.
Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003
James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Medium purple-red; the bouquet is quite full and very stylish, with some briary Bordeaux notes providing varietal authenticity. The palate is harmonious, with sweet cherry, cedar and briar flavours intermingling, but fruit foremost. A unanimous gold at the 1999 Sydney Royal Wine Show.
