James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
achieves the synergy expected of the blend; soft, plush mouthfeel, with lifted berry aromas and flavors; easy drinking style

Campbell Mattinson (2006 Vintage) says
Penny's Hill makes a range of very good reds, all in the full-bodied, full-flavoured style. This relatively inexpensive shiraz viognier is a real find. 2006 RELEASE Now we're talking! This is the real deal at a very reasonable price. It's chocked with warm, spicy, savoury flavour and bursts of liquorice and red raspberry-like flavour. The drinkability factor is high. I tell you what, I could go this! The more I drink of it the more I like it -always a good sign. It's a big, warm wine, but there's enough spice to keep it interesting. DRINK 2008-2011.

A lively, medium-bodied, attractive mix of blackberry and cherry fruit, the viognier under control. Good value.
