Pepper Tree Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Pepper Tree is one of the most accomplished Hunter Valley producers thanks to a clear winemaking vision from the very talented Jim Chatto. This Chardonnay pays homage to all the regions Pepper Tree has vineyards in, so it’s a combination of Hunter, Wrattonbully and Orange fruit each imparting their unique personalities. A lifted, tropical nose of peach and a ripe fruit palate, with complex barrel characters aiding intensity. It finishes long and goes well with fish and poultry dishes.

Winemaker's Notes

Hand picked and gently pressed to preserve delicate fruit aromas and achieve elegance and finesse on the palate.

Lifted aromas of white peach and pineapple. A generously fruit driven palate packed with ripe fruits balanced well by subtle barrel ferment complexity, providing a long refined finish.

Pepper Tree Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A blend of Hunter, Wrattonbully and Orange fruit, you could be forgiven for thinking this is the leftovers. It hangs together, though, offering some rich and creamy characters on the nose and a palate that delivers melons and stone fruits in simple, straight-shooting fashion. Neat balance, nice and even.

James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Medium to full yellow-green; a rich, buttery ripe bouquet leads into a smooth tropical/yellow peach-flavoured palate, supported by subtle oak.
