Winestate Special Edition 2012
Ray Jordan (2010 Vintage) says
A robust wine packing plenty of punch. The nose has a distinct earthy savouriness with a dusty edge of some appeal. The palate has good structure from firmish ripe tannins and a fine touch of oak. There's a small amount of tempranillo in here adding to the complexity. Like the dry savoury finish. Excellent food wine.

Good commercial style: short and simple, with warm, spicy berry fruits coming through.

A rather delicious and generous shiraz. The nose shows a lifted perfume with a sprinkle of white pepper. The palate is seamless and silky smooth with soft generous fruit and fine grained oak striking an excellent balance. There's a small amount of tempranillo adding a balancing dry dustiness to the finish. Nice wine.

Evident from the first sniff that this carrying a lot more fruit intensity and certainly more obvious oak. The smell is a mix of savoury spicy fruit and a liberal dose of vanillin oak. There's almost an old-style Barossa character about it. The palate is a beaut mix of ripe supple tannins and warm soft generous fruit. Great balance and I reckon it will cellar well.Ê
