Petaluma Bridgewater Mill Pinot Noir Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Some of the most spectacular sparkling wines in this country come from the Adelaide Hills, well at least the Chardonnay and Pinot grapes that go into them do. It’s made with fruit from the cool Piccadilly Valley and Lenswood sub-regions of the Hills and makes for a really cool drop of bubbly bliss. The nose is as refreshing as a bite into a fresh apple before it unleashes a creamy mousse on the palate. A really consistent sparkling that shows elegance and restraint.

Winemaker's Notes

A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay hand picked from the south facing slopes of cool climate vineyards of the Piccadilly Valley and Lenswood sub-regions of the Adelaide Hills.

Select parcels are chilled, gently pressed and gravity settled before racking to seperate the clean juice. Matured on yeast less in bottle prior to disgorging and release. The wine literally bursts out of the glass with a fine creamy mousse and is a full flavoured expression of sparkling wine from the Adelaide Hills.

Bridgewater Mill Wine Reviews & Accolades

"From the Adelaide Hills, this is the understudy to the top-shelf Croser sparkling wine in the Petaluma range. Its shiny straw in colour with a sustained foaming bubble and a nose of strawberry, white peach and citrus. Some biscuity hints add dimension, and the palate has soft, subtle flavours that echo the aromas, leading through a long, zesty finish." 4 Stars. - Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age - November 2010.

"...finely beaded with faint pinot character from the start cut by bracing acidity. Its a good style statement if you like your fizzes extra racy." - Tony Love, Adelaide Advertiser - December 08

James Halliday says
Salmon-pink; the pinot noir influence shows throughout, with red fruits and spicy notes; the wine has very good mouthfeel and balance, the long finish with perfectly calibrated dosage, one second sweet, the next dry.
