A cool and spicy wine this, drawn from a vintage that was wet and cool. What it has meant is a lighter wine, a spicier wine than in many previous years, yet still with that trademark Grenache fragrance. Lots of lovely bright fruit is the clincher. Lots and lots. Nice.

Shiraz and Grenache make perfect wine partners – blended together they each bring varietal qualities which create a deliciously enjoyable wine perfect for drinking when young. The lifted aromatic flavours of Grenache gives the richness of Shiraz a delightful softness and elegance, making it an affable classic Barossa blend.

"You might in theory ask yourself why a brand as healthy as Peter Lehmann would launch a range of wines from a vintage as difficult as 2011. Then you taste this, and the thought stops dead. This is pretty tasty. And very good value. Raspberry, kirsch, aniseed, some plumpness to the mid-palate but grainy and earthen and interesting through the finish. Grenache is only 13 per cent of the blend but it plays a key role. It's fantastic really, all things considered. Drink 2013 - 2016."

'The cool 2011 Barossa vintage gave shiraz and grenache unusual perfume, even in lower priced wines like this. There's a floral lift to berry aromas, and a thread of rich, earthy complexity. It tastes juicy and direct. (Screw cap; 14.5 per cent alcohol.)

Bonza drink and bonza value. This is seriously delicious. It tastes of raspberry jam and liquorice, tar and blackcurrant. It even has pretty good persistence. It feels smooth on your tongue and, while it's no heavyweight in terms of intensity, it packs enough of a punch.
