Peter Lehmann Portrait Barossa Semillon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

In the 1970s, Peter Lehmann's bosses told him to renege on his word to buy fruit from the local growers. Lehmann told his bosses to get stuffed! He then bought the grapes himself, and continued to make the wines. The portrait range honours these growers, and this semillon is an ode to what is crisp and juicy. Freshly-squeezed lemons is a feature of this wine, both on the nose and palate. It's a fresh and frisky style that is highly slurpable at an everyday price.

Winemaker's Notes

The colour is pale straw with green tinges leading to an aroma of freshly picked lemons. This is a delicate, fruitdriven white wine with a refreshing, crisp, dry finish. It is delightful drinking now but can be aged with confidence for another 5 or so years during which time it will gradually deepen in colour and character and develop a lovely honeyed complexity.

Semillon is the ‘must have’ wine in the fridge! A delicious aperitif and a perfect accompaniment to smoked salmon, fresh asparagus, Caesar salad, delicate pan fried fish fillets and lemon chicken.
