Bdpe and rich peachy fruit has been fleshed out further by mlf and lees contact into a full-blown style.

Named after David Pettavel, Swiss pioneer of the Geelong wine region, the Fitzpatrick family's showcase winery and restaurant near Geelong has been turning heads since they were opened in December 2001. Both the early-drinking 'Evening Star' and age-worthy 'Platina' range impress, with my favourites being the alluringly floral 2005 'Evening Star' Riesling (grapey, musk flavours and a clean, dry finish), and the well-priced 2003 Chardonnay: enticingly floral, delicate yet with intense and persistent tropical fruit and citrus flavours, good complexity and a delicious aftertaste.

Full, rich and ripe peach and stone fruit; fractionally oily acidity.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Developed colour; full-bodied yellow peach, tropical and fig fruit; malolactic and barrel ferment inputs obvious; big middle palate.

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; the fruit is altogether more subtle and restrained than that of the Evening Star Chardonnay, complemented by delicate, smoky oak. The tight melon and citrus fruit of the palate has absorbed the new and one-year-old French oak which the wine was fermented and matured, and has obvious development potential.
