James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Soft crimson-purple; the message is immediate: this is superior merlot that has very good varietal expression shining through the bouquet and medium-bodied palate, the plum/cassis fruit fresh, the tannins fine.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A swirling and alluring nose that has a strong sense of concentration - just 800g of grapes from each vine - and a precious two barrels made. Mulberry, liquorice and plum fruits on the nose; more of the same on the palate, presented amid fine, juicy tannins that roll smoothly through the finish.
The Good Wine Guide 2011
Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
A cool-climate merlot from Clenburn with tiny yields and a production of just four barrels. This has blue fruits, leaves, gentle perfume and cinnamon spice - an attractive wine with a faint iodine nuance. The palate has a supple, smooth entry rolling out fine, juicy tannin/ acid texture, blue fruit flavour and some gently toasty oak across the finish.
The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010 2009
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
A lively and very correct varietal expression on both bouquet and palate, the latter with remarkable intensity and precision; the spicy, savoury red fruits on the finish lead to the need for another glass; four barrels made.
