You certainly won’t be grouchy after you’ve had a couple of glasses of this serious Shiraz from the Yarra Valley. This is the best fruit the Pimpernel Vineyards can get their hands on and it comes from a cracking vintage. Make sure you grab a fine cut of steak for this one, as they will go hand in hand. Beautifully concentrated fruit complimented by a silky texture and soft, rounded tannins. Big yet balanced it finishes with extraordinary length.
The wine is brilliant velvet purple in colour; it has an opulent lifted bouquet with subtle contrasting savoury notes. In the mouth, endless layers of dark fruit are complemented by spice, savoury flavours and firm spicy tannin structure. The wine has excellent natural acidity. Flavour persistence is prolonged. Alcohol 15.0%
Cellaring: will soften and increase in complexity for at least 10 years.
Food: big beef and venison dishes, beef bourgignon, winter casseroles.
