Pirie Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Mid-gold, vivid green hue; restrained pear and almond bouquet, with a suggestion of fennel; a cool and reserved palate, tightly wound, fine and ultimately refreshing.

Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
The Pirie estate-level chardonnay cornes with additional richness and complexity, quiet ripe poached pear fruits and some candied melon. The palate has a savoury side and a bright, appealing and up-beat side to it. Nice savoury acid line and length through the finish.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
A very good example of perfume and power, with pure citrus, almonds and hazelnuts on display; the palate takes it up a notch by providing layers of flavour, vibrant acidity and loads of complex grilled nut character that persists for an age; this should age gracefully, but is super in its youth.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Opens very well with elegant stone fruit and melon; some cashew adds complexity; excellent length.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Nick Stock (2006 Vintage) says
A classy Tassie chardonnay from one of the masters shows astute, modern chardonnay winemaking: nice complexity and intensity, lemon and grapefruit, almond meal and nectarine; really fresh. Piercing richness and intensity, ripe stone fruit flavours here, the oak sits in well, fairly pinned to the palate in savoury fashion by bright zesty acidity; long cashew nut finish.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Elegant and intense nectarine and grapefruit supported by subtle oak; has exceptional length, the acidity pronounced but balanced.
