expert reviews about
Pirie Sigma Reserve Pinot Noir
Angus Hughson (2005 Vintage) says
Don't be surprised if you have never heard of Pirie's Sigma Pinot Noir before as this is the first release under this label and has only just hit the market in small quantities. It is the pinnacle of Andrew's Pinots, and the first handful of barrels that he has seen which live up to the expectations of the Pirie Grand Cru. In comparison to the Estate the Sigma is not bigger nor bolder rather is characterised by a dense yet immediately appealing core of red and black fruit lifted by some almost haunting earthy five-spice characters and finishing long and pure with some fine chalky tannins. For lovers of the best of the Pipers Brook releases, this is a real treat.
