pocketwatch Western Australia Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Pocketwatch pays homage to Robert Oatley's great-great-grandfather who was a master watchmaker back in the day. This offering is a crisp, juicy number that shows lots of passionfruits, gooseberries and lemons on the nose, whilst the palate is light and crunchy, with licks of fresh herbs, zippy citrus acidity, and a dry, pear-like finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Pale straw

Nose: Lively tropical fruits and hints of citrus.

Palate: Classic Australian sauvignon blanc characters of tropical fruit salad: passionfruit, rock melon, apple and crunchy pear, with hints of grassy, herbal notes. Lovely mouthfeel and length of flavour.

Food: Asian cuisine – especially Thai, shellfish such as oysters or mussels, lighter flavoured poultry or pork dishes.

Cellaring: Drink now.

Alcohol: 12.2%

Winemaking: From another exceptional vintage, a number of parcels of night-harvested grapes from vineyards across South Western Australia were fermented with cultured yeasts in stainless steel tanks in order to create an appealing, fresh, fruit-driven dry white wine. In simple terms, Margaret River provides the textural core, Pemberton structure and fresh aromatics, and purity and minerality from Great Southern. Bottled under Stelvin Lux + screwcap closure at our state of the art bottling line.
