James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Estate-grown, the first vintage since '08 (due to weather), made in the Portuguese style, Has retained vivid purple colour, and the dark cherry varietal fruit; a delicious well-balanced wine, the tannins in immaculate control. 13.5%.

Plenty to love here. This juicy, vivacious tempranillo trades on fresh, fragrant fruit appeal, offering ripe black cherry and spice, some herbal notes and gentle reduction adding complexity to this unoaked expression. The palate springs to life with fine dark cherry flavour, soft, smooth tannins and a supple, charming balance. A top young red with character and verve, and a lingering cherry pip finish.

Good colour; has considerable flavour and structure, Q at odds with the wine never seeing oak; black cherry and touches of licorice and spice supported by grape-derived tannins.

Exceptional concentration, power and dark fruit flavours; should be very long-lived. 'MT' stands for Minya Terra, a Portuguese term roughly equivalent to terroir.

This Central Victorian label has made a name for an unwooded, inky take on tempranillo. Incredibly vibrant and intense fruit here, cherries and cranberry, some sarsaparilla too; really intense. The palate delivers sweeping dense velvet tannin texture and bundles of rich purple fruit flavour. More delicious fruit than you would have thought possible.

I first met Dominic Morris (the owner/winemaker, with his wife Krystina, at this Bendigo operation) on a hilltop in Portugal's Douro Valley. He's a bit of a celebrity there, having made the wines at the wonderful Quinta do Crasto for many years, and still travels back regularly. Along the way, he's picked up a real feel for tempranillo. This unwooded specimen is vibrantly delicious with classic black cherry and earthy notes. Yum.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
A powerful wine, with lots of black cherry fruit, together with notes of spice and sarsaparilla; entirely fruit-driven.
