James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
Bright, strong red-purple; a fragrant, ultra-ripe black cherry, blood plum and spice bouquet is repeated on the intense, multi-layered palate; excellent acidity adds to the length of a striking wine.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Light to medium red; a super-fragrant bouquet with ripe plum and cherry fruit leads into a quite lovely wine, with excellent texture and mouthfeel. The fruit is certainly sweet and ripe, but the wine has the requisite finesse and length. Should develop relatively quickly.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Full red-purple; the bouquet is exceptionally intense and complex with deep, dark plum and briar aromas. Opulent plummy pinot fruit, rich and mouthfilling, is offset by a nice touch of spice, partly from the fruit and partly from oak. The wine also has considerable tannin support which is more likely to aid than harm it as it matures further. This is an all duck or no dinner style.
