Deep colour; multilayered richness to dark fruits; I think the wine manages to carry its load of lots of charry oak, and will come into its own over the next two to three years. Gold Tas Wine Show '12.

A very tidy 2010 pinot noir that looks bright and typical of the region, with ripe cherry fruit in mouth-watering form on the nose, light spice and sweet, toasty oak; quite unevolved at this stage. The palate has juicy, bright, crunchy cherry fruit here, some creamy spices and oak adding sweet cola-like flavours. Supple, strawberry finish.

This carries a sheen of new oak, which perhaps dominates the wine for now. It smells of toasted coffee, mocha and meaty, smoky complexity, and there's boot polish, dark plums, roast duck and more. The palate's relatively open-knit and shows a more integrated face: dark-berry fruits, some mocha, long, ripe tannins and a dark-plum-flavoured finish.
