Cracka Review

Here we have a more medium-bodied style of cab sav that still has some richness of fruit. Heady blackcurrant, star anise, floral and slightly earthy savoury characters and subtle charcoal lift from the glass, whilst the palate is smooth and elegant, with red and dark fruit flavours, talcy tannins, fresh acidity, and a touch of savouriness to the finish. Great with some lamb chops.

Winemaker's Notes

Nose: Made in an elegant style. Perfumed aromas of cassis and licorice are balanced by beautiful French oak.

Palate: The palate is rich with savoury varietal flavours and finishes with fine powdery tannins and subtle charry oak.

Cellaring: Bottled under a screw cap closure this wine will reward cellaring for 10 years and beyond.

Tyson Stelzer (2008 Vintage) says
There is concentrated, expressive, varietal fruit here without edging anywhere near the line of heaviness. Elegantly medium-bodied, it's packed with ripe, crunchy blackcurrant and cassis fruit and finely textured tannins, all of which linger long on the finish. An outstanding Punt Road Cabernet from this single twenty-five-year-old estate vineyard.
Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2008 Vintage) says
This wine is made on a cabernet sauvignon vineyard planted in the Yarra Valley twenty-five years ago. Distinctively regional - it's ripe but not heavy, mulberried and curranty but not necessarily sweet, herbal but not excessively or even overtly so. As you can probably tell by now, it's medium weight and of medium intensity too. (Medium quality too for that matter).

WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Floral, minty aromas and a light-bodied, leafy/savoury style of palate. A very good, balanced wine.

WINESTATE (2005 Vintage) says
Vibrant chocolaty/plum-like aromas. Medium-weight palate with very intense and concentrated flavours with clean, balancing oak. Needs time to open up.
