James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Spent 20 months in new French oak barriques; this has obviously left its calling card, but there is also attractive plummy/blackberry fruit; the tannins are fine and soft, sharing spice with the fruit on the long finish.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
The extended maturation of this wine in new oak, for 21 months, has produced a wine with strong charry roasted meat, spice, sage and juniper; the full-bodied palate is a take no prisoners approach, with dense fruit, zesty acidity and a mouthful of chewy tannins lingering on the finish; big-boned, not shy on oak, and done well.

Fragrant spicy berry aromas; elegant, medium-bodied spice, black fruit, tannins and integrated, barrel ferment oak. Sophisticated winemaking.

Deeply coloured; the potent, penetrating bouquet leads into lusciously abundant mid-palate blackberry and spice, balanced by fine tannins and faintly smoky oak on the finish.

Full red-purple; the bouquet has more concentrated fruit than the varietal, but with a similar set of aromas. Delicious dark cherry and plum fruit are the core of a fruit-dominant palate, complemented by subtle oak and fine tannins.

James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; the bouquet is crammed with rich and ripe blackberry, chocolate and vanilla aromatics; the palate is mouthfilling, but shows exemplary handling of the total extract. Dark berry fruits and harmonious oak feature in an unusually supple wine.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; powerful, concentrated dark berry/cherry fruit with hints of earth flood the bouquet, oak making only a minor contribution. Another dimension of fruit depth is revealed on the palate, with dark cherry, chocolate and ripe, well-balanced tannins
