Drier than its non-vintage stablemate (above), the 1998 is a blend of Chardonnay (93 per cent) and Pinot Noir, grown entirely in Central Otago and disgorged in late 2002. Pale straw, with a steady stream of tiny bubbles, it's an elegant wine with citrusy, slightly limey and buttery flavours, integrated yeast characters, good complexity and a smooth, lingering finish.
